Just a little about myself....I'm Karen Mansfield. I live in the popular seaside town of Whitstable in Kent, where I moved to 5 years ago from North London.
I come from a family that for four decades was at the forefront of the fashion and textile industry. I have always been involved in fashion, PR and marketing, but have always wanted to be more active on the "creative" side.
Handbags, shoppers, matching purses.
With Karen Mansfield Originals I have produced a range of pretty, functional, but most importantly affordable handbags and shoppers, some with matching purses. Each article is individually made and hand finished, quite a rarity these days!!
I source a lot of my fabrics and trimmings in Southern California, where I visit on a regular basis. This gives me the opportunity to buy unusual fabrics at reasonable prices (thanks to the dollar exchange rate!), savings that I can pass on to my customers.
I also use some vintage and recycled fabrics, including saris, which make beautiful cushions.
Aprons Cushions and Placemats
My range is constantly updating, as I enjoy changing fabrics and trimmings, to keep things interesting and exciting. I also make coordinating aprons, cushions and placemats, which can be made in your own fabric, or from my selection.
I specialise in "personalised" gifts, and can either embroider or applique names, initials or messages on practically anything, to make a lovely and unique gift.
Bespoke Curtain and Blind Making Service
Lastly, I offer a bespoke curtain and blind making service using your own fabrics. However, I can sometimes source fabrics for you if required.
I offer a complete service, from intial consultation to hanging and installation. I can also make curtains for mail order, using your own measurements.
My full range is available at the South Quay Market in Whitstable from Friday to Sunday between the hours of 10am and 6pm, so feel free to come and talk to me about your specific requirements.
