and I make functional, but most importantly, affordable Aprons, Bags, Place Mats and Tea Cosies available in a range of designs and colours. Each article is individually made and hand finished
in Kent, England. Quite a rarity these days!!
Since opening my shop at Brogdale farm the curtain and roman blind making side of the business has really taken off.
I offer an affordable, personal alternative to the larger companies, Who offer “made to measure” services, but they are not hand made, with TLC, as my curtains and roman blinds are.
Another benefit of having me make your curtains and roman blinds is that I come to your home, and discuss all the options, to suit your budget.
My customers are not tied to buying fabric from me, whereas the larger companies will only make curtains and roman blinds from their own fabrics. In fact, I can often source the fabric my clients choose cheaper than the RRP. I also have some lovely end or rolls of beautiful designer fabrics, and they are often enough to make a roman blind or curtains, as “one offs”. It’s hit or miss with what I carry, but they are a fraction of the original prices.
I have also made roman blinds for customers from fabric panels that they have bought abroad, and have sentimental value for them. It’s really amazing how pieces of fabric can be adapted into something completely different.
I can now supply roller blinds made from clients own fabric, and a lovely range of Pastel colour venetian blinds.
I offer a full range of price options, from all machined curtains, to fully hand made curtains, with a variety of headings, and linings and interlinings.
My roman blinds are all hand made, and supplied on the header rail, and only need a couple of screws to attach them to the window frame.
I love hand sewing, and get so much pleasure from making curtains and blinds for my customers.
When I have the odd day or 2 between curtain and roman blind work is the time I “get creative”! These are my fun days at work, and when I make my original bags, cushions, aprons, and co-ordinating kitchen ware from my lovely and original fabrics.
My aunt found me some beautiful vintage hand embroidered tableclothes, and bed linen,
and I’ve had great fun turning them into cushions, and lavender bags.
I also make bags from old clothes that are out of date, but have sentimental value to my customer and they can’t bear to part with, and it gives the article a new lease of life! I also boil old woollen sweaters and make bags out of them! It’s quite amazing what you can do with a bit of imagination!

During my time at Whitstable Harbour Village, I was continually asked where I bought my fabrics, and would I sell any. Well now the answer is "yes!" Fabrics are my passion. I am continually searching for unusual fabrics and designs. Once I find a unique fabric I like... I start searching again! Only this time for the perfect co-ordinating fabric. This is to bring out the detail in the main fabric.
I will be running 'how to make' workshops at Brogdale.
This will enable me to pass on some tips and advice. So often have I heard people who have seen my unique designs say "I wish I could make that." Well, now could be your chance! In fact, I will make practically anything in fabric. I have recently started making curtains and cushions for VW Camper vans. If you have any special requests... just ask me!
